This July, PAE and Earthwatch teamed up to send Los Angeles based teen citizen scientists down the Sacramento River. As the groups rafted down the Sacramento River they learned about California’s water issues and supported PAE’s larger effort to assess the biodiversity and carbon storage potential of restored and natural riparian forests. During the five day trips, the young scientists collected scientific field data, including identifying birds, tree identification, butterfly sampling, and entering data onto datasheets.
