Founding partner Dr. Joshua Viers is contributing the Sustainable Sourcing project as an advisor to the underlying data architecture. Working with representatives from Google, Microsoft, and ESRI, the advisory group will harness the latest developments in Web 3.0 technology to provide a common platform for producers and consumers to reliably engage in sustainable commerce using standard metrics of performance. By focusing on global agricultural raw materials, the resulting data store will advance sustainability in agricultural sourcing decisions, in effect to better understand supply chains and reinforce purchasing criteria that are truly sustainable (i.e., “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” Bruntland Report 1987).
